The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, takes pleasure to announce the prestigious Project Formula SAE for the years 2009-11.
The Formula SAE team from NIT Jamshedpur (under the banner of Drift Racing Team) is a group of budding engineers from different engineering backgrounds who are continuously working hard in order to develop new and innovative technologies that can be incorporated in the Automotive Industry.

Formula SAE is an international student design competition conducted by The Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE). It is considered the world’s greatest engineering competition, in which more than 250 universities from across the world participate .The event is organized in many different countries round the year that includes Australia, UK, Germany, USA, Italy, Brazil, and Japan. This event is also scheduled to be held in India in January 2011
Formula SAE challenges students to design, make and race a one man, open wheeled race car assuming that they have been engaged by a manufacturing firm to produce a prototype car for evaluation as a potential production item. The vehicle is tested for its aerodynamic design, high performance, acceleration, braking and endurance. More information can be found at
