The Institute can be reached by rail, road or Air.

The nearest airport is at Ranchi, which is 130 kms away. Ranchi is connected by air with Delhi, Lucknow, Patna and Bombay. A taxi can be hired or public transport can be taken at Ranchi to reach Jamshedpur. The travel time from Ranchi is about 3 to 4 hours.

Jamshedpur is well connected to all parts of India through the railways and major trains from all parts of India go through Jamshedpur. An auto/taxi/bus can be taken from the railway station/bus stand to reach the NIT campus at Adityapur, which is about 12 kms away from Jamshedpur railway station.

Jamshedpur is also linked through the national highway, which goes from Kolkata to Mumbai.

Plans are afoot to connect Jamshedpur directly with Kolkata by air.
